ChristianaCareRehabilitation Services, Speech Pathology Department, Newark campus,is recruiting for a Rehabilitation Aide to work full time. Hours are day shift, Monday through Friday, 8 hour/day.

As the Rehabilitation Aide, you will provide clinical and administrative support services in theSpeech Pathology Department and any relatedunits within the Rehabilitation Services department

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assist the therapistswith feeding patients during objective swallowing studies (Fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing).  

  • Maintain the work area in a neat and orderly fashion, safe for patient care.  Clean and prepare equipment for patient use.

  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipmentas it relatesto the needs of the speech department(where applicable).

  • Assist therapists in medical equipment/ supply ordering.

  • Monitor and help to maintain efficient patient flow within the department; assisting with scheduling, transport of ST equipment through out hospital as needed,and patient transport within the departmentand to Radiology as needed

  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to adult, and geriatric patients,including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and to provide the care needed.

  • Submit work orders as needed to clinical engineering and facilities.

  • Assist clerical staff with clerical duties including, but not limited to, scheduling, faxing, filing, answering phones, and scanning.

EDUCATION,SKILLSAND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High School graduate or equivalent

  • Experience in working with adult physical disabilities preferred

  • Knowledge of routine physical, occupational, andspeechprocedures 

  • Knowledge of correct cleaning and infection control procedures

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology

  • Strong organizationaland time management skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital setting

  • Ability to follow detailed instructionsand maintain confidentiality

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Thisis an activeposition requiringphysical ability to safely perform duties including frequent walking, lifting, standing, pulling, bending, pushing related to patient transfers and needs within the department

Hourly Pay Range: $18.75 - $22.91

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
